Hi Wayne here. So far so good in the Florida keys as far as no reported cases of the coronavirus. Beautiful wife Jamie and I decided to lock the door of our store to any walk-in business, but are “open for business” as we are taking orders over the phone while customers wait in their car or outside on their bikes. Having us deliver the music gear out to your front door is also a possibility. We take credit and debit card over the phone.
It looked like Santa Clause, or even someone bigger (I mean more famous lol) was in town when the word spread on the street yesterday that Jimmy Buffett was in town.
Ask anyone here it’s true that the “Coconut Telegraph” as Key Wester’s call it, or the island’s way of spreading news mouth-to-mouth, is faster than a speeding bullet and evidently faster than even WiFi or the internet!! – as crazed fans and folks made their way to a packed house on Duval Street before anyone even saw a single post on Facebook, Instagram or other social media!
Soon after news of his coming hit the “Coconut Telegraph” the street itself in front of Margaritaville would just about be blocked all together by fans – with police directing traffic, fans, curious tourists, pedestrians, bicyclists, AND scooters. (Thank You Key West Police for helping keep everyone safe so that we can continue to have tons of fun).
It was a SOLD OUT blues show at the Key West Theater!!!! May 25th, 2019. A great way to mark the first of MANY Key West Blues festivals!!! Thank God!!
I’m so happy to share the stage with some of my musical peers Tim Marshall Curtis “Commander Hawk”, Andy Westcott, Rick Fusco, Bobby DeVito, Daryl Brooke, Henry Lysy Jr., Randy Morrow, Francois Gehin, Michelle Dravis, Karri Daley, AND a few of my musical heros like Ericson Holt, one of the greatest living piano playing songwriters IN THE WORLD, and blues legend, slide guitar slinger and songwriter, Bill Blue!!!!
For sure one of the musical highlights in my life so far is to have shared the stage with Ericson Holt and Bill Blue!!!! Another 2 notches on the belt! Another strike off the bucket list.
I want to thank the promoter Joel Barrios for having faith in this blues festival idea.
