It's Ukulele night again at the Green Parrot — Wednesday, June 4th, 2025, 8pm to 11pm. Wow, that month went by quick!

Jamie and I were hanging out at the pool table with our Island Guitar Music Store sponsored kiosk of ukes, supplies, and stories. There's something about setting up that little kiosk that always feels like home base for the night — a place where curious newcomers can grab a uke, ask a question, or just feel welcome before they work up the nerve to sign up and play.

The Crew That Made the Night

Our friends Wavy Dave, Bounce and Karen, Bob, and Bubba LowNotes on upright bass were holding down the backdrop for a great night of ukulele jamming. Bubba's upright bass is one of those things you don't expect at a ukulele night — and then it shows up and makes everything sound ten times better. That low end under a room full of ukes is something special.

Open Mic Style — Everyone's Welcome

UkeOut is open mic style. Bring your uke, sign up, and play and sing — or just play a song. Or just strum along from your seat or a cool corner of the bar. No pressure, no judgment, just music.

That's always been the spirit of UkeOut. Key West has this incredible tradition of making music accessible to everyone — tourists, locals, beginners, pros. You don't have to be good. You just have to show up.

Island Guitar's Role in UkeOut

Island Guitar has been sponsoring and supporting UkeOut for years. We bring the kiosk, we bring the ukes for people to try, and we bring the community. If you've ever picked up a ukulele for the first time at a Green Parrot jam night, there's a good chance Island Guitar had something to do with it.

UkeOut is one of the reasons Key West has earned its reputation as the Ukulele Capital of North America. That's not a title we take lightly.
