My new USA Gibson SG with 3 Blade pickups and 6-way toggle through my 16 watt tube amp — my take on Stevie Ray Vaughan "Travis Walk" style blues played to bass and drums backing track from "Scuttle Buttin."

The 6-way toggle on this SG opens up a world of tonal combinations that a standard 3-way just can't touch. Paired with the Blade pickups, you can dial in that SRV snap and bite without losing the warmth underneath.

Stevie Ray's Travis picking technique is one of the most deceptively difficult things to pull off cleanly at speed — the independence between the thumb and fingers, the way the bass notes lock in with the rhythm while the melody floats on top. It's a lifetime of work in a few bars.
